"All forgiveness is a gift to yourself"
My paintings reflect my understanding of the principles expressed in "A Course in Miracles," my passion for flowers, and my love of design going back to my former career as a textile designer.
I believe the creativity expressed in my paintings comes from a higher power. Sometimes the pictures are present when I pick up the paintbrush, sometimes they emerge in my dreams, and other times they are the result of careful planning on my drawing board. Ultimately they are a gift from God. I am grateful for this gift of creativity.
I am often told there is a mystical quality to my work. This is the result of my facination with negative painting. In negative painting shapes emerge when the artist paints around the exterior of an object. These shapes are often so subtle that the viewer must look a little closer and imagine what lies beyond.
I use transparent watercolors. I love color and use it freely in layering multiple washes of paint over eachother. I often present my flowers in a unique way; sometimes they fall out of the picture. Petals may cascade in and out of geometric gray areas within the body of the painting. This expresses my belief that what we see clearly with our body's eyes is only a fraction of what we would see if we looked within our minds and connected to our higher self.
